Six firms win £60m Northern Ireland framework

Six companies have been awarded places on a £60m framework to provide consultancy on TransportNI’s Major Works Programme. Aecom, Amey, Arup, Atkins, Mouchel (now WSP) and RPS Ireland were all awarded spots on the framework. Balfour’s £130m Operation Stack plans scrapped

Plans for a £250m lorry park to be built by Balfour Beatty under a £130m deal have been scrapped, after the government opted against defending a judicial review of the scheme. Highways England said it was now looking to develop plans for a new lorry park in Kent to help ease the congestion caused by cross-Channel crossings, after attempts to build the park while meeting environmental obligations failed. Carillion JV lines up £360m-worth of Middle East contracts

Carillion’s Oman joint venture has landed a £240m deal to design and build a new hospital in one of the Middle East country’s biggest cities. Carillion Alawi, the firm’s JV with Oman’s Zawawi family, has been chosen by the country’s health ministry as preferred bidder to construct the New Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah, the biggest city in southern Oman. The firm also revealed that it was set to sign a deal worth £120m to design and build another hospital in Khasab, northern Oman. Read the full article on the Construction News website.

Winners revealed on £8bn ESFA schools framework More than 30 contractors have won places on the government’s £8bn framework covering the construction of new schools in England. Kier was the biggest winner in terms of places and contract value, securing spots on 14 lots with a combined value of £5.5bn. Bam Construction, Carillion, Wates and Willmott Dixon all secured places on lots with a combined value of £4bn. Read the full article on the Construction News website.
